Course Description

In this foundational learning path, Dr. Pascal Losambe will guide you through the courageous and often challenging journey of having open conversations about belonging and race. We will take a closer look at the fears that often hold us back and provide a clear framework to push through those barriers. This is more than just a discussion; it’s a foundation for creating institutional structures that promote dialogue and foster a sense of belonging for everyone.

What You Will Learn

Together, we will:

  • Understand the Barriers: Learn why conversations around race can be difficult and identify the specific fears and obstacles that get in the way.
  • Develop Strategies: Acquire practical strategies to push through the fears and engage in courageous, productive dialogue.
  • Learn from Others: Explore how other organizations are successfully implementing intentional conversations and what you can learn from their experiences.
  • Build Institutional Structures: Learn how to create and implement policies and practices that promote ongoing dialogue and increase a sense of belonging within your organization.

Meet the Speaker: Dr. Pascal Losambe

Dr. Pascal Losambe has a Bachelor’s in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Middlebury College (VT) and a Master’s of Science in Biology from Boston College where he received the Donald J. White award for teaching excellence, a distinguished honor given annually to graduate instructors. Dr. Losambe has earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Purdue University with a focus on cultural competence. Additionally, he serves on regional diversity boards, has led strategic vision initiatives for various institutions and has conducted multiple workshops on cultural competence at national and international conferences. Dr. Losambe’s achievements include the Mosaic Award in 2018, and being invited onto the Purdue University Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Advisory Board and the Independent School Association of the Central States Equity and Justice Committee Board.
